Welcome to the Stories Beyond Service website (the “Site”), operated by Stories Beyond Service, a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization (“SBS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using our Site, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read them carefully before using the Site.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Site.

1. Purpose of the Site

The Stories Beyond Service website exists to preserve and share the lived experiences of U.S. military veterans through visual storytelling — including video interviews, photographs, and written narratives. The Site’s purpose is educational, commemorative, and non-commercial.

All materials are intended to foster understanding, remembrance, and respect for veterans and their service.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By visiting or using the Site, you agree to abide by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and any other applicable guidelines or rules posted on the Site.
We may revise or update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

3. Intellectual Property Rights

All content on the Site — including but not limited to text, photographs, videos, graphics, logos, and layouts — is the property of Stories Beyond Service or its content contributors and is protected under U.S. copyright law.

  • You may view and share content for personal, educational, or non-commercial purposes only, provided that credit is given to Stories Beyond Service.

  • You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works from the Site’s content without prior written permission from Stories Beyond Service.​

4. Contributor Rights

Veterans and contributors who share their stories through our organization retain ownership of their personal narratives. By participating, contributors grant Stories Beyond Service a non-exclusive, perpetual license to record, edit, display, and distribute their stories on our website, social media platforms, and public exhibitions for educational and commemorative purposes.

Contributors may request removal or modification of their story by contacting storiesbeyondservice@gmail.com, and requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

5. User Conduct

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • Post, share, or transmit any content that is unlawful, defamatory, or harmful.

  • Attempt to access restricted areas, servers, or data without authorization.

  • Use the Site to solicit, advertise, or promote unrelated services.

  • Interfere with the operation or security of the Site in any manner.

Any violation of these rules may result in restricted access or legal action.

6. Privacy and Data Collection

Your use of the Site is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect information. Stories Beyond Service respects the privacy of all contributors and visitors, particularly regarding sensitive veteran information.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SBS shall not be liable for any damages resulting from:

  • Reliance on information provided by contributors or third parties;
